My name is Valentina Priolo, a freelance artist and creative based in Charleston, SC.
Creating stunning experiences through dance and design.
I am a performing artist and choreographer whose practice has unfolded between Europe and New York City, where I was drawn by the city’s vibrant, multicultural dance landscape. Over time, my creative curiosity led me to expand my practice through design, approaching visual language as another site of movement, structure, and composition. I earned a B.F.A. in Graphic Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, where I refined my critical thinking and conceptual approach.
My work spans editorial design—book design, typography, and page layout—alongside branding, visual identity, and web design, with a focus on user experience. Parallel to my design practice, I have collaborated as a performing artist, choreographer, and dance educator with Overground Physical Theatre Company, an experimental New York–based collective creating transpersonal experiences through contact improvisation, expressionistic postmodern European Tanztheater, and ultra-contemporary performance art.
Across disciplines, my practice is shaped by adaptability, rigor, and an ongoing dialogue between body and image. I remain deeply committed to bridging contemporary dance and design as interconnected modes of inquiry. I am currently pursuing an M.A. in Dance Studies at the University of South Carolina.
