LP_Cover_Steve Reich

A visual interpretation of minimalist music through album cover design, custom typography, and motion graphics inspired by Music for 18 Musicians.

LP_Cover_Steve Reich is an album cover redesign and motion graphics project inspired by Music for 18 Musicians, Steve Reich's seminal work of musical minimalism. The project translates the composition's rhythmic structures, repetition, and gradual progression into a visual language through typography and motion design.

At the center of the project is a custom typeface developed in response to Reich's compositional approach. The letterforms use systematic variations, repetition, and accumulation to reflect the evolving patterns and layered structures characteristic of minimalist music.

The project extends beyond the album cover through a motion design component that animates the custom typeface. Movement, rhythm, duration, and gradual transformation allow the visual system to unfold over time, creating a dynamic interpretation of the musical composition.

Together, the album cover, custom typography, and motion graphics form a cohesive visual response to Music for 18 Musicians and its underlying principles of repetition, progression, and accumulation.
